Job Description
The Threat Intel and Testing Manager at 3M will lead a high-performing team focused on defending enterprise and manufacturing systems from evolving cyber threats. This on-site role in Austin, Texas, requires expertise in red/purple teaming, adversary emulation, and cyber threat intelligence. The selected candidate will oversee both strategic and tactical threat analysis while driving continuous security control validation efforts.
This position also plays a key role in guiding penetration tests, threat hunts, and emulation exercises. Collaboration with SOC, detection engineers, and business units will be essential. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership and deep technical knowledge, ensuring that threat data becomes actionable defense. Reporting to senior leadership, this manager will provide valuable insights to help protect 3M’s global infrastructure from emerging risks.

- Direct control validation using frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and breach simulations.
- Guide hypothesis-driven threat hunts using current intelligence and adversary behavior.
- Stay current on adversary tactics (TTPs) and attack surface management.
- Convert threat intel into detections with SOC and detection engineers.
- Align testing and intelligence efforts with incident response and detection teams.
- Collaborate across IT, OT, and business units for comprehensive defense.
- Ensure threat programs meet compliance standards and internal policies.
- Communicate threat trends, testing outcomes, and risk insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Promote a strong security culture aligned with 3M’s safety and compliance values.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Intelligence Studies, or a related field

- Proven ability to lead cross-functional testing and influence defensive strategies

- Knowledge of Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs) such as MISP or ThreatConnect

- Strong report writing and risk translation skills for executive communication
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like NIST, ISO, and CMMC
