Internship Description

The Tax Winter Intern will work closely with CohnReznick’s tax team from January through April 2026. This role provides practical experience in tax return preparation, research, and client service. Interns will assist with individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns. They will also identify potential tax issues and prepare adjusting entries based on client data and audited trial balances. 

Daily workflow management and client communication support are key parts of the role. Interns gain exposure to a variety of industries, working alongside experienced professionals. This internship offers a chance to develop technical skills, understand tax regulations, and experience a professional services firm’s culture. 

The hybrid work model supports collaboration and flexibility. Interns will receive mentorship and guidance from senior team members to help build a strong foundation for a future career in tax.

Responsibilities of the Tax Winter Intern

  • Prepare individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns accurately and timely.
  • Identify potential tax issues during the review of client documents.
  • Prepare tax adjusting entries and tax trial balances based on audited or client-provided data.
  • Assist in daily client workflow and support the tax team’s project management.
  • Collaborate with other interns, associates, and managers to meet project deadlines.
  • Research current tax laws and regulations relevant to client cases.
  • Maintain organized and thorough documentation for all tax work performed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and participate in team meetings.
  • Learn and apply firm standards and procedures in tax processes.
  • Support the firm’s commitment to high-quality client service and professionalism.

Requirements for the Tax Winter Intern

Given below are the qualifications, experience, and skills required for the Tax Winter Intern at CohnReznick:

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • Planning to complete 150 credit hours between May 2026 and September 2027 to qualify for CPA licensure.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in both major and overall coursework.
  • Successful completion of at least two accounting courses before starting the internship.

Experience:

  • Prior internship or work experience in accounting or tax is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular activities are preferred.

Skills Required for the Tax Winter Intern :

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced work setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Shifts for the Tax Winter Intern 

This internship follows a hybrid work schedule

Interns are encouraged to be present in the Denver office approximately three days per week. The exact in-office schedule will be determined by the team to maximize collaboration and productivity. Flexibility is offered to balance remote work with in-person meetings and tasks.
