Job Description

Moses Lake Community Health Center is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant. This hybrid role is based in the Moses Lake office. The position supports accurate financial reporting and daily accounting operations. The Staff Accountant will manage accounts payable, prepare financial statements, and ensure proper coding and compliance.

Responsibilities include reconciling deposits, filing taxes, maintaining vendor relations, and assisting departments with accounting procedures. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting and the ability to work with vendors and staff. Candidates should be comfortable using accounting software and handling monthly reporting.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant

The following are the responsibilities of the Staff Accountant at Moses Lake Community Health Center:

  • Prepare and post journal entries at the end of each month.
  • Ensure accurate coding to the general ledger segments.
  • Confirm proper classification for expenses and balance sheet items.
  • Review and process weekly payable batches with full documentation.
  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements for accuracy.
  • Maintain a list of aged payables and outstanding checks.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for internal review.
  • Monitor updates in the Microix (PO) system and inform the supervisor.
  • Complete monthly excise tax reporting for the Department of Revenue.
  • Prepare and file 1099 forms in compliance with regulations.
  • Stay current with all State and Federal reporting requirements.
  • Assist in developing the federal grant expense budget.
  • Support operating budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Provide coding guidance and training to staff when needed.
  • Work with vendors to resolve account issues and discrepancies.

Requirements for the Staff Accountant

Basic Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • Equivalent experience in the accounting field may also be considered.
  • Candidates must possess reliable transportation.
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required.

Experience:

  • Experience in accounts payable and journal entry processing is essential.
  • Prior work involving financial reporting and monthly statement preparation is preferred.
  • Experience with tax reporting and 1099 filings is a strong advantage.
  • A background in using accounting systems and reconciliation tools is helpful.

Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and expense classification.

Shifts for the Staff Accountant

This position is offered in a hybrid capacity based at the Moses Lake office.

This hybrid role typically requires a combination of onsite and remote work, coordinated with the finance team’s needs and organizational schedule.

Employee should be available for regular business hours, which are typically aligned with standard office operations (e.g., Monday to Friday). We finalize work hours and remote arrangements during onboarding in consultation with your department lead.
