Internship Description

The IT Digital IoT Internship offers hands-on experience with Internet of Things (IoT) systems and connected device architecture. Interns will support data ingestion, transformation, and real-time analytics using cloud platforms. This includes working with medical device connectivity, applying IoT security protocols, and understanding compliance frameworks in the healthcare industry.

Additionally, the internship promotes cross-functional collaboration with teams in IT, engineering, product, and quality assurance. Interns will gain skills in data visualization, identify patterns and insights from telemetry data, and contribute to building secure and scalable IoT ecosystems. Responsibilities of the IT Digital IoT Intern

The following are the responsibilities of the IT Digital IoT Intern at Inogen:

  • Support the design and development of IoT solutions using Azure or AWS platforms
  • Work with cellular and wireless protocols such as MQTT, HTTPS, and BLE using TLS 1.2+
  • Assist in building and maintaining a secure IoT architecture for medical devices
  • Collaborate with IT, Engineering, Product, and Quality teams on IoT development projects
  • Perform data ingestion and transformation from connected medical devices
  • Create dashboards and visual reports to present data insights using visualization tools
  • Separate telemetry data from sensitive personal data (PII/PHI) to ensure data privacy compliance
  • Implement and test access control mechanisms to secure device data
  • Monitor the health, performance, and security of IoT systems
  • Identify and troubleshoot system issues, data bottlenecks, or potential vulnerabilities
  • Help develop methods to apply security patches and firmware updates
  • Ensure that connected solutions meet regulatory standards for medical device connectivity
