Langan is seeking an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer to join its dynamic team in West Palm Beach, Florida. This role focuses on conducting field investigations, monitoring foundation and earthwork construction, and preparing detailed reports. The position offers the chance to work on large-scale and high-profile projects while gaining hands-on experience in geotechnical engineering.
You will work closely with senior engineers and field staff to analyze site data, support design decisions, and contribute to safe and efficient land development solutions. Responsibilities of the Geotechnical Engineer
The following are the responsibilities of the Geotechnical Engineer at Langan:
- Assist in planning and performing geotechnical field investigations.
- Log soil borings and test pits, and collect samples for lab testing.
- Conduct field testing and accurately record observations and results.
- Observe foundation and earthwork construction to ensure conformance with project documents.
- Identify and suggest solutions for both routine and complex field or lab issues.
- Prepare standard logs and forms such as drilling logs, field investigation reports, and chain of custody documents.
- Participate in site reconnaissance, file reviews, and document searches to support project design.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors about project progress and any site challenges.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to geotechnical report development.
- Follow safety protocols during all site and lab activities.
Requirements for the Geotechnical Engineer

Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
- A Master’s degree with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred or a desire to pursue it is encouraged.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is expected.
- EIT Certification or registration for the FE exam is preferred.
Experience:
- 0 to 2 years of work-related experience in geotechnical engineering or a related field.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and multitasking abilities.
- High attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Familiarity with field testing and logging procedures is a plus.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
Physical Skills:
- Willingness to spend most work hours outdoors on field assignments.
- Capable of conducting field investigations, which may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
