J.S. Held is seeking a Forensic Accounting Intern for Fall 2025. This role is part of the Economic Damages & Valuations team in Irvine, California. The internship offers hands-on experience in accounting and finance. You will assist in financial analysis, document management, and research tasks.

This position is ideal for students pursuing careers in forensic accounting or economic damages. Interns will support real projects and learn how experts analyze complex financial matters. You will work closely with Associate Accountants and shadow professionals in their day-to-day activities.

The role requires attention to detail, accuracy, and critical thinking. Interns are expected to handle sensitive documents and assist with client casework. Responsibilities of the Forensic Accounting Intern

  • Attend orientation and internal training sessions.
  • Input financial statements, tax returns, and transaction data into templates.
  • Prepare basic document grids for discovery responses.
  • Assist with gathering and organizing documents.
  • Support document management and case engagement tasks.
  • Help with business valuation and financial report drafting.
  • Compile data for divorce disclosure statements.
  • Prepare tables, charts, and graphs for visual reports.
  • Conduct research related to economic damages and valuations.
  • Perform duties assigned by Associate Accountants or senior staff.

Requirements for the Forensic Accounting Intern

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA or CPA candidate status is preferred.

Experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Occasionally required to stand or walk.
  • Must be able to lift and move items over 25 pounds.
