Job Description
As a 2025 Product Design Co-op at Colgate-Palmolive, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects within the Product Development team, gaining hands-on experience in the design and formulation of pet food products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sensory, Packaging, and Product Development scientists, to support the decision-making process related to product design and quality. This role will allow you to contribute to the development of food products that delight pets and their owners, while also building a database of valuable research findings.
Responsibilities of Product Design Co-op
- Ingredient Dosing Tool: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a user-friendly tool that helps scientists dose ingredients during product formulation, requiring minimal ongoing maintenance.
- Protein Ingredient Research: Conduct research and evaluate new protein ingredient options, considering animal health, cost, availability, sustainability (carbon footprint), nutrition, and physical properties.
- Product Stability Analysis: Perform stability tests, including accelerated aging and ambient studies, to determine the best product design, shelf life, and packaging for optimal results.
- Database Building: Support building a product database that improves decision-making in product design and development.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 overall.
- Must be a current Junior or Senior student.
- Pursuing a degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience:
- Previous internship or co-op experience in a relevant field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food science or product design is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software tools.
- Ability to work in the United States on a permanent, unlimited basis.

Shifts
The 2025 Product Design Co-op is an on-site position based in Topeka, KS. The role follows standard daytime working hours, with potential flexibility based on project demands and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This position does not require any travel.
